SARS banned: Nigeria Police dissolves Special Anti-Robbery Squad [SARS]

Nigeria Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has announced the dissolution of Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force.

This is happening as #EndSARS protest which started in Lagos, reached abroad as Nigerians in UK, US, Canada and other countries protested against police Brutality and the ending of SARS.

According to the statement from Police PRO, Frank Mba, the IGP says the dissolution of SARS is in response to numerous cries of Nigerian people.

“In the finest spirit of democratic, citizen-centred and community policing, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, today, 11th October, 2020, dissolved the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) across the 36 State Police Commands and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).”

He promised to announce new policing arrangement to address the policing gaps which the dissolution of SARS would cause.
