Foundation Honours And Empowers Youths For Their Selfless Service

On Sunday, the 18th of September 2022, United Breeds Foundation, A harm reduction Organization whose primary aim is to stem down the tide of drug addiction and negative vices prevalent among the youths with it’s negative impact on our community and society at large, honours and empowers  nine youths who volunteered to serve in a two month long Traffic control Community Service which was done to ease the traffic gridlock at Apple Junction, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.

The Community Service exercise which commenced on the 18th May,2022 and ended on the 18th of July, 2022 had rave reviews from residents of Amuwo Odofin and motorists who go through that route. It is noteworthy that no accident was recorded during the cause of their two month voluntary service. It was a successful one indeed.

The founder of the Organization, Anthony Abakporo, reiterated the need to do the right thing at all time, as he recounted his experience and successes having led his team to embark on the voluntary exercise. According to him… “As a leader, you must be ready to take up responsibilities, i led from the front to encourage my team, even when it was raining, i wore my raincoat, left my business to serve my community’.

He also stated that when he looked at the Awards and what they were able to achieve, he is convinced that the United Breeds Foundation Awards is more honourable as it has to do with ‘Service to humanity’.

Some of the Award recipients who were also rewarded with financial empowerment took turns to narrate their experiences during the voluntary exercise.

The Convener of the foundation, David Ohiembor, further stated that United Breeds has done a whole lot in trying to change these youths who are suffering from one form of addiction or the other, not just drugs but also dangerous vices, and making them useful to the society.

“The community service was like a test to confirm that truly they’re now changed and can be reintegrated back into the society for good.”

“They say an idle mind is the devil’s workshop, if you rehabilitate people and you leave them to go back, there is possibility that they would go back to their old ways again. just so they don’t go back, we had to get them busy thus the need for the empowerment.” He opined.

He also used the opportunity to call on well meaning individuals and corporate bodies to support the noble initiative of the foundation to do more for humanity.

The event which was held in the office hall of their newly built facility, at 23 road, Festac Town, Lagos, was well attended by youths, children and parents of some of the youths who have come to appreciate the efforts and successes the UBF have been recording within just few years of it’s establishment.
